I’m Joakim Systaddal, a change leader, facilitator, and builder of practical systems that help people do meaningful work.
My path has moved between private enterprise and local government in Norway, where I’ve spent years leading complex transformation work across services and levels — from strategy and governance models to hands-on implementation in real teams and everyday operations. I’m drawn to the question that keeps showing up in every organization: How do we make systems serve people, not the other way around?
Together with my partner in work, I’ve been part of an ambitious effort to renew how municipalities can be run. More human-centered, more trust-based, and more capable of learning and acting quickly without losing legitimacy, ethics, or direction. The approach is simple to state and hard to do well. Understand people, understand systems, then move from talk to safe, rapid action.
I write about what we’ve tried, what worked, what didn’t, and what others can adapt — with a bias for clarity, craft, and honesty over buzzwords. If you care about public sector renewal, organizational learning, trust-based leadership, and change that actually sticks, you’ll feel at home here.
